We will not sell, rent or otherwise distribute your personal information, which we receive through our Web site or from any other source, to third parties except as explained below. Please read the following Policy to understand the care with which Applebee's will treat your personal information. Your Consent

By providing your personal information to Applebee's through its Web site or otherwise, or by using Applebee's Web site, you consent and agree to the collection, use and disclosure of personal information as outlined in this Privacy Policy and to the policies set out in this Privacy Policy. You may withdraw your consent to any further collection, use or disclosure of personal information which you may have provided at any time by giving Applebee's prior reasonable notice through its Privacy Desk. The provision of personal information to Applebee's is voluntary on your part and you may always decline to provide personal information to us.

What information does Applebee's collect from me?

Applebee's may collect information about you, such as your name, postal address, email address, postal code, phone number, birth date and dining preferences through any of the following: online email address submissions, in-restaurant surveys, research surveys, dining frequency cards, guest relations communications and online restaurant location searches or any of your other voluntary activities or communications with Applebee's.

Can I remain anonymous when I provide information to Applebee's?

You can visit our Web site without identifying yourself or giving us any personal information. If you give us your email address, voluntarily provide feedback to Guest Relations or complete a survey, you will no longer be anonymous to Applebee's. We may ask you for additional information from time to time, which you may decide to provide to us or not. If you contact Applebee's through the Web site or otherwise, we may keep a record of that correspondence.

Why does Applebee's collect personal information? How does Applebee's use the personal information?

Applebee's primary purposes in collecting personal information are to improve customer service by understanding your preferences, communicating with you regarding Applebee's promotions and services and providing you with the best possible experience. For example, if you visit our Web site and give us your postal code, we are able to provide the location of the Applebee's restaurant closest to you.

We may use your personal information to notify you of special offers and services available from Applebee's, its affiliated companies and franchisees. Does Applebee's share my information?

  • As required by law: We reserve the right to disclose any personal information as needed if such information is requested by law enforcement agencies or if we are requested to do so by law, regulation, court order, or by a government entity
  • To provide service: We may share aggregated, non-identifiable information as well as personal information with our franchisees, affiliated companies and service providers, such as those who provide email marketing for Applebee's, its affiliated companies and franchisees
  • All such service providers are under contract with Applebee's to help provide specific services. If you do not want your information to be shared in this manner, you can choose not to provide the information.
  • Other: We may disclose user information in special cases when we have reason to believe that disclosing such information is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be violating Applebee's Web Site Terms of Use, or may otherwise be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) Applebee's rights or property, other Applebee's Web site users or customers, or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities. We may need to disclose user information to service providers (who are contractually bound to protect your user information) when necessary to maintain, service or improve our Web site, products and services. How can I access my personal information? How can I ask for corrections to it?

With limited exceptions provided by law, upon your request in writing to the Privacy Desk at the email address listed above, you will be informed of the existence, use and disclosure of your personal information and you will be given access to that information. Except in limited circumstances, as specifically provided in applicable privacy laws, Applebee's can tell you whether or not it holds personal information about you. If Applebee's refuses access to you, reasons for such refusal will be provided to you to the extent permitted by law. Exceptions may include information that contains references to other individuals, information that cannot be disclosed for legal, security or commercial proprietary reasons, and information that is subject to solicitor-client or litigation privilege.

Generally, we only collect personal information provided by you and we will not make any effort to verify the accuracy of the information that you provide. Applebee's will use commercially reasonable efforts to ensure that personal information provided by you is recorded and maintained accurately and is current as required for the purposes for which it was collected. You may contact us at the Privacy Desk email address above if you wish to update or make corrections to your personal information and we will make the appropriate updates or corrections promptly.

How long do you keep my personal information?

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for fulfillment of the purposes identified above, at the time of collection, or as required by law.

What security precautions are in place to protect the loss, misuse or alteration of my information?

We closely guard your personal information. Because of the global nature of the Internet, when you give us information, that information may be sent electronically to servers outside of the country where you originally entered the information. Though no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, Applebee's employs security techniques that are designed to protect the privacy of any information you share with us. We maintain administrative, organizational, technological and physical safeguards (appropriate to the sensitivity of such information) designed to protect against unauthorized use, disclosure or access of the personal information we collect. All third parties that obtain personal information from us (e.g. service providers that perform functions on our behalf) are contractually required to protect your confidentiality and personal information in a manner consistent with this policy, and/or as required by law.

What are cookies and how does Applebee's use them?

As part of offering personalized service, we sometimes use cookies and beacon tags or web bugs to store and understand more information about you, such as your nearest Applebee's restaurant. A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your browser from a Web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. Beacon tags and web bugs allow us to understand what users have viewed a page. We may use cookies, tags or bugs to allow faster and easier access to your information and to monitor traffic on the site and measure traffic patterns to improve functionality.

You can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent or you can choose to turn off all cookies. You may do this through your browser (like Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer) settings. Applebee's is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of these other Web sites, Internet resources or third parties and we urge you to obtain information about the applicable privacy practices of such sites, resources and third parties prior to your use of their services and/or your provision of any personal information to them.

How do I opt out?

If you no longer wish to receive ongoing marketing communications from us, we will provide you with simple instructions on each marketing email from Applebee's to enable you to unsubscribe from future emails from Applebee's. You may also contact the Privacy Desk as explained above or opt out here.

What else should I know about my privacy?

Please keep in mind that, whenever you voluntarily disclose information online, such information may be accessible to other online users. Ultimately, you are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your passwords and/or any other personal information. Please be careful and responsible whenever you are online.

How is information from children treated?

Applebee's does not intend to collect any personal information from children under the age of 17 without verifiable parental consent. In fact, when we request personal information from users of this Web site, we also ask for their birth dates. If we learn that such a child has provided us with personal information, we will promptly delete it. If you learn that such a child has provided us with personal information, the parent or guardian should contact us at the Privacy Desk above to ask us to delete that information and we will promptly do so. We urge parents or guardians to monitor and supervise their children's online activities and to contact the Privacy Desk with any concerns regarding the provision by their children to Applebee's of any personal information.
